Politico reports that President Trump “has come through on three big asks” for California. That was an interesting headline! So I read the story. And it turns out that the “three big asks” are disaster declarations.
Think about that. It is newsworthy that President Trump didn’t set what’s left of his presidency on fire out of pure spite. And make no bones about it: denying disaster assistance to a state experiencing natural disasters would sink his presidency right quick. Not to mention the shot-in-the-arm it would give to that fundamentally ridiculous secession movement.
Yet it was and remains plausible that he would do such a thing. What a goddamned time we live in.
