So I took a peek at the Asian markets, and to the right you can see how the peso did against the dollar. The peso strengthed (down on this graph is stronger) 15 minutes in; it then soared between 9:30 and 9:45. It kept rising at a slightly slower rate until the debate ended at 10:40.
Looking over my liveblog, it looks like the rise started around the time the Fat Crybaby called a $13 million loan from his father “small.”
Now, the move is not that dramatic. The peso rose from 5.0¢ to 5.2¢. But it seems as though people who have money at stake think the debate moved the needle. It also shows that people with money at stake do believe that a Trump administration would be a bad thing for that country’s economy.
