Another thing that weakens the population-based comparison to hypothetical U.S. deaths is the likelihood that many of the dead in Libya were foreign mercenaries rather than Libyan citizens.


Some, probably not "many". It's likely that mercenaries were a minority of the military casualties on Qaddafi's side.
