I present to you new never-before-known knowledge about Latin America:
This simple chart masks a heroic effort at data collection that took the author to at least seven different countries and ate up a year of her life tirelessly searching through badly-organized archives. We now have systematic data on nominal wages and land rents in Latin America where before we had just conjecture and guesswork. More importantly, we now have more understanding as to why Latin America developed such high and persistent levels of inequality.
