We now have an “economic history” tag in the category cloud. The plan is not to use it for posts about economic history that involve either our original research (be it from primary or secondary sources) or our own speculation. Rather, it’s a literature tag, used when we highlight work by others than either sheds light on the past or uses the past as a useful laboratory to understand broader economic issues.
Does that explain what it is that economic historians do?
Well, if not, here is an explanation in cartoon form, created by a former graduate student of my friend Ran Abramitzky. Her name is Isabelle Sin. The explanation is brilliant.
Captures it all, no? Become an economic historian!
